Background

The collateral management, custody and settlement functions in the Bank of England’s Banking Services area lie at the heart of the Bank’s official operations and are critical to the Bank’s objectives of achieving monetary and financial stability.  They evolve constantly as new business and IT needs arise; there is a regular flow of new business requirements arising from both major projects and smaller ‘business as usual’ developments.  The team will supply experienced staff free from day to day operational responsibilities with the skills to support the live operational teams in making those changes.

Job Description & Responsibilities
Working both to management and on occasion on their own initiative, the jobholder will contribute directly to change initiatives across the area.  That might involve contributing to project development work through the development of user requirements or through the planning and execution of trialling.  Or, where back office processes need to change to cope with changes in the front office, helping to develop revised processes and systems.  From time to time the jobholder will be expected to take a higher profile role in local developments such as system changes;  as such the role will provide a useful introduction to business and IT development techniques.  More generally, the emphasis on problem solving whether in the context of operational problems or project work will provide opportunity to those looking to develop analytical skills in order to develop their career.

Skills/Experience Required
The jobholder will need to have prior operations experience gained within a banking environment.
You will also need to have an understanding of collateral management, custody and settlements.
Good written and oral communication skills are important.
You should have the capability and desire to develop analytical skills.
You must also be bright, enthusiastic, hard-working, flexible and change-oriented.
