At the Bank of England, our work touches on every aspect of life in the City as well as in the wider Government and International arenas. We are committed to providing the opportunity of gaining valuable work experience to high achieving students. Our range of programmes are available at various stages of academia.
The Bank has a PhD Internship scheme for people who are currently studying for a PhD. Interns are placed in either the Monetary Analysis or Financial Stability areas of the Bank, where they spend up to 3 months working on a short research project with members of the Bank staff.
Our excellent sponsorship scheme is available to graduates who are a looking to embark on postgraduate study in economics and/or finance. Students will be offered a 6-8 week internship during the summer after their graduation, plus full sponsorship of their MSc/MPhil fees. The Bank will also offer living expenses during the Masters course to students who achieve outstanding performance during the internship.
Each year we recruit undergraduates for a 13 month work placement on our sandwich student scheme. Students will work as research assistants, project assistants or as IT support in various areas of the Bank. The placements offer an excellent opportunity to gain work experience and contribute to the Bank's policy, research and operations.
We also offer 6-8 week undergraduate internships during the summer for first degree students in their penultimate year. Graduate offers may be made to outstanding performers at the end of the summer.
Our gap year programme is available to students who have just completed their A-level study and wish to gain work experience for a year before joining university. Students will gain real experience and a useful insight to the operational and research areas of the Bank.
