Our Gap Year programme is open to students who have just completed their A-level studies who wish to gain work experience before a University course. It provides a valuable opportunity to gain exposure of work experience in a stimulating environment at the centre of the UK's economy.

Gap Year opportunities are largely available in our Banking Services area undertaking operational Banking work. This involves processing of financial data, often to tight deadlines and requires a high level of accuracy. These roles will give you the opportunity to gain first hand experience of the banking processes of a major financial institution. Our Gap Year students find life at the Bank far more relaxed than they had anticipated and particularly enjoy the working atmosphere and social interaction. They benefit from working in a professional environment and truly value the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a prestigious organisation.

We also offer opportunities for training and many students complete the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification during their placement. Above all, the Gap Year programme offers you the opportunity to prepare for life at university and provides an excellent insight to the work of the UK's Central Bank.
